KENNEDY KYLANDER
University: Northern Kentucky University
Major: Social Work
Kennedy is a past intern of RefugeeConnect from the Fall term of 2018. She did work with local high schools in ESL classes. She also created accessible after school programming at local elementary schools.

One of the big impacts on Kennedy was getting to understand the students and building strong relationships with them.

After graduation she was employed as a program coordinator in the social work field. She is now working for herself in her own company, KylanderContent, a digital marketing agency! In her company she focuses on SEO copywriting, social media management, and giving non-profits the tools they need to do sustainable in-house marketing.

She says, “I am so grateful for my time at RefugeeConnect. I learned so much about the marketing side of nonprofit operations and about the need for self-sustained marketing. It ultimately is what inspired me to start my business!”

Thank you, Kennedy!

Dani Miller
University: Northern Kentucky University
Major: Social Work

Dani interned with RefugeeConnect in the spring semester of 2018. One of the impacts this internship had on her was learning a lot about the macro level of social work. She left some great impacts on the community, as well: creating mentoring opportunities with the teen girls and participating in the after school programs at local elementary schools. One of her biggest accomplishments was creating the soccer program at a diverse elementary school that still runs today!

After her internship she graduated with her Bachelor's of Social Work, and focusing on her social work career, worked as a case manager for persons living with HIV/AIDS. She is now working at a domestic violence shelter, interning with the court and working toward her Master's of Social Work.

Thank you, Dani!
