World Refugee Day celebration

World Refugee Day, designated by the United Nations, honors refugees globally on June 20 each year. Established in 2001 to mark the 50th anniversary of the 1951 Convention on the Status of Refugees, this day celebrates the strength and courage of those forced to flee their home countries to escape conflict or persecution.
Our celebration highlights refugees' rights, needs, and dreams, mobilizing political will and resources to help them thrive. Activities worldwide, often involving refugees, governments, host communities, and the public, focus attention on their plight and provide support.
On June 15th, RefugeeConnect and the Covington office of Kentucky Refugee Ministries welcomed an estimated 250 refugees and community members to Goebel Park in Covington to celebrate World Refugee Day.

And every participating family received a free family portrait.
